Tugboat Landing Artisan Market

On Saturday, December 4, 2021 we had a Free the Fern table set up at the Tugboat Landing Artisan Market.

The Tugboat Landing Artisan Market was a great event organized by Barbra Borchardt, a local community planner and editor and chief for ILiveInEastVan.com. Many local artists and small business owners were present to showcase their wares at the market. Some of my favourites were Bower Fibre Goods and MADLAB Distilling.

Free the Fern had a small table featuring our Art for Plants Fundraiser at the market. Free the Fern member & artist, Kiki Nombrado, had been busy painting 50 birds and squirrels on 5×7 canvases, as well as 8 Christmas ornaments for the event. By the end of the day, we only had 12 canvases remaining, and we had successfully raised $670 for native plants on the Red Alder Trail!

Since the spring of 2021, we have managed to fundraise $1993 with our Art for Plants Fundraiser. Of that, we have used $858 for native planting in 2021, and we are saving the remainder ($1135) for planting in 2022.

Thank you to everyone in the local community who came out today and supported our fundraiser! We are really so grateful to live in such a generous, caring community.
