Today, we were happy to join the Champlain Heights Summer Fair organized by the Champlain Heights Community Association.
The event included live entertainment, inflatables, consession stand, & community booths.
We were grateful to have 8 (6 pictured) wonderful Free the Fern volunteers join us at our Free the Fern booth.
We set-up 3 tables under our bright green tent, featuring:
- our tri-fold poster
- a native berry display
- a nature “pop quiz”
- an ivy/flower crown making activity
We were happy to have our MLA George Chow visit our booth and even sport an ivy crown!
Our ivy crown making activity prooved to be quite popular, especially with the younger visitors. Luckily, we had several volunteers on hand to help braid the ivy and teach how to weave flowers through the vines.
Our ivy “pop quiz” with lollypops as prizes was also a hit with the younger crowd. Participants had a chance to answer questions and learn new things about native and invasive species in our area. We were grateful to have our younger volunteers, Liam & Connor, help lead the pop quiz.
Thank you so much to our volunteers, Catherine, Cole, Connor, Ellie, Erin, Grace, Jeannine, and Liam, for helping make our Free the Fern booth such a success!
