We were very blessed to be offered a donation of 70 free plants from The Environmental Youth Alliance! According to their website (https://eya.ca/): The EYA is a registered charity supporting BIPOC youth to connect with nature, community, and skills to become environmental stewards and community leaders. They provide free land-based education and paid employment-training programs in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Students started growing these plants in a greenhouse back in the fall. Now look how beautiful they are!
We feel very blessed for this generous gift to Free the Fern. We will be planting them tomorrow along 4 areas of the Champlain Heights Trails that have been cleared of invasives by 4 dedicated Free the Fern Members! I will post an update after our planting! Horray!
