Today, we were honoured to welcome Anna Bondartchouk to lead a Mushroom Felting workshop with us. 18 community members gathered at the Kinross Creel Co-op common room to learn together.

Anna shared how sheep wool fibers can be bound together by poking them with a sharp needle. She then demontrated the steps of how to create an Amanita muscaria mushroom out of felt:
First, we rolled and poked white wool to create the stem of a mushroom

Then, we created the red mushroom cap by shaping red wool into a circle

Next, we created a smaller white circle of wool to go under the red mushroom cap and connected it to the stem.

Finally, we added white spots to the cap of the mushroom

We would love to have Anna back to lead another felting workshop with us in the future. Anna is a talented felter and can create a wide variety of shapes with felt, including animals, mushrooms, and plants.
We were happy to see so many community members come together for the workshop and we hope many will return for a future Free the Fern event!
