Places that Matter Fair – Feb 23, 2025

Today, Free the Fern participated in the Places that Matter Fair. It was held at Heritage Hall on Main St and was organized by Heritage BC. A variety of history groups and nonprofits from across the city were there to share about places that matter to them.

Free the Fern Executive Director, Grace Nombrado, President, Erin Knock, Secretary, Barbara Lane, and Director, Ellie Weber, were on hand to share about our Free the Fern stewardship effort along the Champlain Heights Trail system. Participants were also invited to create pressed leaf bookmarks using native plants gathered from the trail. Plants included: lady fern, Western red cedar, redwood sorrel, woodland strawberry and more!

It was wonderful to be able to connect with local community members, and we hope to return to the Places that Matter Fair again next year!
