On Sept 17, 2022, 10am-12pm, Joe Boyd, Free the Fern Treasurer, organized a Neighbourhood Clean-up Party.
It was a beautiful, late summer morning, just perfect for being outside. 15 volunteers met up at the the entrance to Fir Trail. There were volunteers of all ages, many of them being parents with children eager to volunteer and help.
The city had provided pickers, gloves and bags for all volunteers. Thanks to a Neighbourhood Small Grant, Joe was also able to provide refreshments and snacks for the volunteers.
Volunteers succeeded in cleaning up the entire length of the Champlain Heights Trail system (see map below) and filled ten garbage bags with waste and one garbage bag with recycling.
Great job, everyone!
