Invasive Pull – Sat, March 1, 2025

It was the warmest day so far this syear, with a high of 13 degrees, when 13 volunteers gathered for our Monthly Invasive Pull. We met at the Douglas Fir Teaching Garden and began with a welcome circle, led by volunteer co-lead, Sylvia. Everyone introduced themselves and shared a stretch, before heading down the Red Alder Trail for some invasive removal.

We headed just east of the trail playground, to continue our stewardship effort. Underneath towering Douglas Firs, and nestled amongst the native Oregon grape shrubs, we tackled the common periwinkle and Himalayan blackberry. Invasives have taken over forming a tangled mat on the forest floor. But, today, we succeeded in clearing 960 L of the invasive plants!

It was wonderful to see 4 new volunteers join us for the first time. Thank you to all our amazing volunteers: Aakritee, Anne, Antone, Cole, Chloe, Grace, Inaru, Jeremiah, Lynell, Maemuna, Michelle, Sylvia, and Victor.

This event was possible thanks to funding support from Park People and Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
