I wish to share a few pieces of nature art along the Champlain Heights Trail. The first is a rock and stump formation nestled into the roots of a tree, located near Matheson Heights Housing Co-op, designed by Anne Banner. The second is a “love nest” built with a circle of rocks, located near the Kinross Creek Co-op, and designed by Grace Nombrado. Finally, the third piece is a heart within a leaf found on the ground at the entrance to the trail off Champlain Crescent. The heart was created by Mother Nature herself. When I see these, I am reminded how caring for the trail is truly a “labor of love” and how we are all so blessed to live within such a beautiful neighbourhood.
