Invasive Pull

On Sat, June 6, 2026, we held our last Invasive Pull before our summer break. 15 awesome volunteers came out (on what begun as a rainy day) to help remove invasive plant along the Champlain Heights Trails.

We began with a stretch, keeping dry beneath the cover of the carport at Kinross Creek Co-op.

We then split into two groups:

  1. Blackberry Crew – led by Robin, tackled primarily blackberry regrowth along with some lamium and clematis.
  1. Invasive Lite – led by Grace, focused on removing small invasive groundcover on the trail edge – Herb Robert (“stinky Bob”), common nipplewort, and annual honesty.
Genevieve, Cathy, Sacia, & Connie G.

After a snack break, a few of us also gathered some native fringecup seeds and sprinkled them along the trail edge.

By the end of our 2 hour event, we had cleared approximately 360 L of invasive plants (which we piled up for pickup by City staff).

Amazing work was done by our volunteers: Caseigh, Cathy, Connie G., Elise, Genevieve, Grace, Jordan, Kyle, Kurt, Lyn, Marcus, Moira, Robin, Rowan, and Sacia.
