CBC North By Northwest

I sent an email off this morning to Sheryl Mackay, host of the CBC Radio Program, North by Northwest. I had been listening to the radio and heard her ask for submissions from those hosting online events. Well, since we have been planning a Zoom Invasive Removal Session for April 28, I thought I would share the details of the event with her. After sending off the email, I went out back to the Champlain Heights Trails to water some native plants we had planted about a month ago. Suddenly, I got a text message from a fellow member of Free the Fern – saying Free the Fern had been featured on North By Northwest! A couple hours later, after I got home from gardening, I checked my email – and found i had 98 messages! I spent the afternoon responding to all those interested in the Educational Zoom Session. We have a total of 100 registered now and 38 people on a wait list! Incredible! We will look into the option of hosting a second educational zoom on invasive removal in the future. Feeling happily overwhelmed!

  1. I only heard the tail end of yourconversatiyn with the lady who chased a bear from her plum tree. I live in a similar environment on Hornby Island and share much of her experiences and philosophy of life, and would love to talk and share with her. Could you please forward this message to her?
    Thank you so much

    1. Robert, I think you were meaning to contact the host of North by Northwest, Sheryl MacKay. But, I am not connected with that radio show as I am the director of an enviornmental stewardship group in South Vancouver. We were only mentioned on the show in Spring of 2021, as we were organizing a community event.
