Eco-Art Workshop

Free the Fern is excited to be partnering with local artist, Joshua Ralph.

Joshua is a 2D animator and digital compositor. He has also volunteered, through the Invasive Species Council of BC, removing invasive plants. (Recently, he was featured in a CBC news article.) Through eco-art, Joshua has found a way to merge his passion for art with invasive species removal. He seeks to find ways to use invasive plants to create beautiful, functional works of art.

Joshua will be leading an Eco-Art Supply workshop at our South Van Strawberry Social on June 5, 1-4pm. Joshua will be teaching how to repurpose invasive Himalayan blackberry and European mountain ash to make pencils.

If you would like to participate in this Eco-Art Supply workshop, you are welcome to just drop by Joshua Ralph’s table at our Strawberry Social event on June 5, 1-4pm (just east of 3530 Swansacre). There is no need to preregister and the workshop is free.

Joshua has other eco-art ideas, such as making bookmarks out of invasive English ivy. Free the Fern would love to partner with Joshua Ralph to offer future eco-art workshops to the public. Stay tuned for future developments!
