Volunteers vs. the GIANT Pile of Soil!

Today, 29 incredible volunteers joined us for our monthly Invasive Pull.

Now, today was not an average Invasive Pull, as we also had a GIANT 12 yard pile of soil to contend with. The soil had been delivered by the City of Vancouver Green Streets program.

Our volunteers (ages 7+) showed incredible determination and strength as they helped move the soil, via wheelbarrow to our fall planting site along the Champlain Heights Trails. Other volunteers helped rake out the soil and add leaf mulch.

While the soil was being moved, another smaller group of volunteers focused on removing invasive plant regrowth from the eastern edge of the trail. They dug out Herb Robert, wall lettuce, periwinkle, and Himalayan blackberry. They managed to clear 420 L of invasive plants.

A special thank you to our event leads: Erin, Connie G., Grace, & Veronika.

and all the rest of our hardworking volunteers: Abby, Alec, Andrea, Antone, Clarissa, Connie H, Elizabeth, Evan, Hannah, Heidi, Imogen, Janet, Jenny, Jerik, Kevin, Kiki, Kurt, Kyle, Liam, Moira, Richard, Robynn, Sun Woo, Sung, and Westley.

This Invasive Pull was made possible thanks to funding support from Park People.
